Around the US

Grand Canyon Road Trip by Mohamed Boraie

"Wherever you go, go with all your heart."

From the Carlsbad Caverns (earlier post) we drove to Grand Canyon in Arizona. We arrived to Ten-X, a camp site close the Grand Canyon. We set up the tent that night and  cooked dinner with our awesome one burner gas stove, which I ended up mastering cooking with it by the end of our trip ( after lots of experimental cooking and meals!!).

The next morning, we visited the canyon. I could not realize how "grand" the canyon was till we started hiking down the canyon and looking at it from the bottom.I realized looking at the extended mountains range that we sometimes forget how small (yet powerful) we are compared to this huge universe around us.

A journey to the center of the Earth - Carlsbad Caverns National Park by Mohamed Boraie

In June 2014, my wife and I planned to take 2 month off from everything and go around the US on a road trip. We started inVirginia and we drove down to Florida, then West to New Orleans ( previous blog post ). From New Orleans we drove to Austin, Texas. Austin is surprisingly a very cool and hip city with amazing food trucks (breakfast burrito!) and lively music scene.

From Austin, Texas we drove to Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico. Through out my travels, I have never seen anything similar to the Carlsbad Caverns in terms of the geological landscape. It is just fascinating!

Cool Fact about the Carlsbad Caverns: Some of the movie shoots from Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959 film) was filmed there.

Enjoy the pictures and till next blog post!
